The Stanley Cup continued to make the rounds with the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, making appearances on Jay Leno's and Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk shows.
The Kings' Dustin Brown brought the Cup to Leno's "Tonight Show" stage, where the team captain was greeted with confetti and Queen's "We Are the Champions." Wearing his No. 23 jersey, Brown stood next to the cup as Leno showed highlights from the team's championship-clinching 6-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
"We here in L.A., after those three wins, were waiting for the sweep on Thursday," Leno said, referring to the Kings' early 3-0 lead in the series, followed by two losses. "What happened?"
"There was a little bit of pressure in this town," Brown said with a smirk. "We haven't won in 45 years."
When Leno asked how the team celebrated the win Monday, Brown gave a shout-out to the Hermosa Beach bar that many players frequent.
"We were on the ice for a while ... then the boys got together in the locker room for another couple hours," he said. "Then we went up and stayed at Staples for a while ... then the boys took it back to the North End Bar for a couple more hours."
Brown then brought the Cup -- along with the rest of the team -- to Kimmel's show, where players offered the host the chance to drink what appeared to be water out of the Cup.
"It tastes like victory, I will say," Kimmel said.
Kimmel spent much of his interview asking the players about the Cup -- where they planned to take it, how they had been celebrating so far -- and ribbed Devils' player Steve Bernier, whose first-period boarding penalty opened up a five-minute power play that led to three Kings goals.
"As far as your names all being on the Stanley Cup ... Steve Bernier of the Devils, will his name be on the Stanley Cup also?" Kimmel asked. "Because he played a pretty big role in helping you guys win this thing."
Kings' goalie Jonathan Quick told Kimmel it was a "tough way to go" for Bernier.
"You don't care, do you?" Kimmel said.
"It worked for us, so it's all right," Quick said.
The show ended as Kimmel asked the team members what celebrations they had in store for the rest of the night.
"There's a couple buses waiting for us outside," center Anze Kopitar said. "You just don't know where that's gonna take us."
The Kings are set to appear at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night for the baseball team's game against the Angels.
And yes, the Cup will be there too.
